It’s a difficult question to answer, even if we know Jesus. I mean, if I had said to him “I’m living for Jesus” would that have helped him in his search? Is that the answer he is looking for?
It struck me that we all need to be able to answer that question with more personal clarity and meaning. Many people do not even ask the question. Some people get as far as asking the question but fear the enormity of the answer. I don’t believe any of us will perfectly know our purpose on this earth, but at least as Christians we may start to put the pieces of the puzzle together and begin to see a picture forming before us.
It’s not enough for me to say “I’m living for Jesus”. Please understand, every day I lay my life before the Lord, I am his, my life is in his hands. It may sound spiritual, but when we come up against adversity, struggles and the rubbish that the world throws at us, we need to have clarity, because one day someone will ask you “HOW do you live for Jesus?”
So for me, when I write songs, they are for Jesus, because he put them on my heart. When I take soup to some homeless guys, it’s for Jesus, because he asked me to. When I invest my time in my family, it’s for Jesus, because I want to see him glorified in their lives. When I work, I work for Jesus. So when days come when I don’t feel particularly spiritual, when times are hard and I lack direction, I know there are aspects of my life where I have found meaning, and I can say “I know God put this on my heart”, and I can keep moving forward in him until the Holy Spirit brings more clarity.
Hope this helps and encourages you today.
